Well, I say under debate, but it will pass and it feels like there is little that we can do about it. The bill calls for our medical treatments to be tracked electronically by a federal system. This goes under the guise of making medical records easily transferable. However, rights to privacy are in question. There will be an appointed National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, who will monitor treatments and who will deem the appropriateness including cost of your treatment. It is a call for Dr's to give up autonomy. Penalties will be enforced against incompliant practioners. The Elderly population will be particularly hard hit.
